Materials Testing Engineer

The Edward Orton Jr. Ceramic Foundation operates a full service independent, nonprofit research and testing laboratory that specializes in measuring the behavior of refractory ceramic materials. Physical, thermal, and mechanical property measurements are available for performing product development, quality control, and failure analysis. Consulting services on refractory and other ceramic materials are also available. Orton also manufactures thermo-analytical instrumentation and products used in firing ceramics. It is located in Westerville, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio.

Responsibilities:
Orton is currently seeking a testing engineer for its Materials Testing Services Group. This individual will be primarily responsible for conducting and scheduling property measurements, maintaining and calibrating test equipment and interfacing with Orton’s testing customers.

Requirements:
Candidate should have a minimum of a BS Degree, MS or PhD Degree a plus, in Ceramic Engineering / Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or similar related discipline, with 10 to 15 years of experience preferably in a laboratory environment. Experience with ISO certification would be considered a plus. This position requires excellent written and verbal communications, strong computer skills, and the ability to function as a team member.
