VISCOSITY OF GLASS NEAR THE SOFTENING POINT BY VISCOUS COMPRESSION OF A RIGHT CYLINDER

The viscosity of glass from 5 to 9 Poise (log 10) is determined by measuring the rate of the viscous bending of a loaded glass beam.  Representative specimens, nominally 3 to 4 mm in cross section and 75 mm in length are required.
