Instruments
Orton Instruments are used to measure changes in the physical properties of materials when heated or cooled. Orton manufactures a range of thermal analysis instruments (dilatometers, gradient furnaces, and glass testing instruments) designed specifically for testing of material properties. Materials include ceramics, glass, whitewares, structural clay, refractories, technical ceramics, investment casting bodies, electronic ceramics, electrical ceramics, advanced ceramics, and other materials.
Thermal analysis plays a key role in Research & Development, Quality Control and Educational applications.
Orton Instruments are hand built, performance tested and calibrated at the Orton factory in Westerville, Ohio. At Orton, we use the finest quality components and experienced Engineers/Technicians for the best value products in thermal analysis.
Orton Instruments include a series of physical property instruments specifically designed for glass applications. These Orton instruments determine specific temperature points such as the softening point, annealing point, strain point, liquidus point, and transition temperature. These instruments also determine the temperature / viscosity ranges of various glass compositions.
