Used regularly, TempTAB can help establish control over your sintering process. Logging your results will allow you to build a database of your furnace's thermal history to spot trends before they affect your zirconia.

How do I calibrate my furnace with TempTAB?
 
Place a TempTAB in a sintering tray filled with beads and set it in your furnace
Program your furnace to heat at 5°C/minute to1520°C with a 2-hour soak.
After the heating cycle is complete, measure the diameter of TempTAB with a digital caliper.
Using that measured dimension, look up its equivalent temperature in the appropriate temperature table.
If the difference between the equivalent temperature and target temperature, 1520°C, is less than 5°C, then your furnace is calibrated.
When the difference is over 5°C, adjust your target temperature by adding or subtracting that difference into the final programmed temperature and repeat the calibration run. If the TempTAB measures within the +/-5°C range , use that initial offset for future firings to reach your desired target temperature.
If the initial difference is off by more than 25°C, consider replacing the thermocouple, or refer to your operating manual for help.
